Intro

What we do
Lykon is an innovative company working in the area of Digital Health Care & Self Tracking. We are defining the Healthcare Industry by developing digital applications to become your personalised healthy lifestyle companion. Our vision is to empower people to live a healthy life.

At Lykon, we give personalised recommendations based on blood results to help you develop healthy habits. At our Berlin office, you’ll find a dynamic and fast-paced work environment and people who are highly motivated to create products our customers will fall in love with.
You will join a diverse team in the Tech department to ensure all elements of our platform are secure, compliant, and scalable.

Tasks

  • You’ll be working as part of a small, highly-skilled, cross-functional team in an Agile setup.
  • Write reliable, performant code, both delivering new functionality and maintaining existing features while keeping laser focused on our customers’ experience.
  • You are accountable for the team’s delivery of projects and the quality of the code. You can spot, communicate, and mitigate bottlenecks in the process and roadblocks to success.
  • Act as a force multiplier for your team, becoming a primary point of contact for technical matters, ensuring tech debt is prioritised appropriately, and building and maintaining best practises both in the codebase and our processes.
  • You are able to proactively identify, prioritise, and execute upon structural and architectural changes to the backend codebases, with an emphasis on improving scalability and user experience.
  • Debug production issues across all levels of the stack, and help other engineers do so by sharing your knowledge and tooling.
  • Build further upon our great engineering culture, ensuring people feel respected, included, and can thrive at what they know best.
Requirements

  • Expert at building backend systems with Go in a microservice architecture, and are comfortable with at least one other language or programming paradigm.
  • Familiar with communication within a microservice architecture, both via synchronous protocols such as gRPC, and via asynchronous messaging (we use AWS Kinesis heavily).
  • Strong software design skills, including concepts like Domain Driven Design and distributed systems.
  • Comfortable with Linux containers and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with AWS and infrastructure-as-code platforms like Terraform.
  • You sweat the details, but are able to balance them pragmatically against other commitments.
  • You are used to teaching yourself anything you don't already know in order to do your job.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high growth environment is highly preferred.
Interacting with other developers, product managers, and stakeholders is very much part of the day-to-day, so communication skills are vital. We’re a small, lean team, so we’re looking for strong individuals who can take direction and run with it, challenge the status quo, and also mentor both team members and stakeholders proactively.

Benefits

  • We are a remote distributed team. You can work anywhere within the European Timezone (UTC 0/+3).
  • Great internal corporate health program and employee discounts.
  • Competitive compensation and a personal education budget.
  • Flexible working hours. If you prefer early starts or late finishes your team will support you.
  • Annual learning and development budget for conferences, books, courses - you choose.
  • A diverse and vibrant remote international environment.
  • You will have a direct impact on our products and will have the opportunity to empower people to live a healthy life.
Closing

We foster a unique company culture by championing our vision, self-empowerment, direct communication, and mutual support. If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, let’s talk!
